Class Description: Stretch your creative muscles as you learn to design a layered landscape accented with a semiprecious stone or fused dichroic glass cabochon and finished with glittering 24 karat gold leaf. Through a series of simple yet effective steps, you’ll create a complex, one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your personal style.
In this class, you'll explore a variety of metal clay techniques, including creating patterns, using templates, texturing, layering, incorporating non-fireable stones, and working with three distinct forms of metal clay. You’ll also discover the art of bonding gold to silver, torch firing, and adding the perfect patina. Finish your masterpiece with expert tips on stone setting and polishing for a professional touch.
Project Completion: students will have enough class time to finish the project.
Materials Included: Enough for one pendant (fine silver metal clay (lump, paste and syringe), fine silver bezel cup, genuine semiprecious stone or dichroic glass cabochon, 22K gold paste, use of all tools and shared consumables).
Required to bring:
- Magnifiers as needed.
All metal clay tools will be supplied by the instructor.
